I. Introduction
Reading this, you might ask just why I put this on my page. Well, I'll be blunt with you. They were always worth a laugh at first, when I came across it in fics, on Trunks/Pan sites, just general conversation with people. However, after a while, I just got sick of it. I am, of course, referring to the totally screwed-up Saiyajin bloodlines that fans so thoughtfully create. With this guide, I hope to educate the masses on "breeding programs," and spread the truth of how the mighty Saiyajin blood will dilute into nothingness. Read this with an open mind and hopefully a sense of humor.
II. Fraction Rules
When I set out to make this "FAQ," I employed fractions galore. You'll see what I mean when you get to the breeding charts. Inevitably, I'm sure, you will know of some Saiyajin or human or hybrid that I'll fail to put in my chart. So, for those of you unsure of what a child would make with him/her, I'll teach you the basics.
Vegeta is a full blooded Saiyajin. Numerical representations for his blood go like this: 1, 2/2, 4/4, 8/8 and so on. 106/106 if need be. The number "one" is very easy to manipulate as a fraction. It gets complicated when you get to the half-breeds and the even lower percentages. Humans can be represented by zero. 0, 0/2, 0/4, 0/8 and so on. Zero is also a very easy number to manipulate.
So, in the case of half-breeds... Vegeta + Bulma = Trunks. 2/2 + 0/2 = 2/2.
But wait! Isn't that a full blooded Saiyajin?
Ah.. but we're not done yet. Take your new fraction (2/2) and multiply the denominator (bottom number) by 2. So...
2/2 = 2/(2 * 2) = 2/4
If you're familiar with basic math, you should know that 2/4 simplifies to 1/2. That is equal to 50%.
Simple, right? Gohan, Goten, and Bura are done the same way.
Pan is 1/4 Saiyajin, so how is she done? Well, basically the same way. Gohan is 1/2 and Videl is 0/2. So, 1/2 + 0/2 = 1/2. 1/(2*2) = 1/4.
Do you get it now? It's a pretty simple concept.
Probably the most important fraction rule is to have the same denominator (bottom number). You cannot add 1/2 and 1/4. It must be 2/4 and 1/4. To get like denominators, multiply the entire fraction by what you need to multiply the bottom number by. For example, 1/2 to correspond with 1/4: 2*2=4, so 1/2 needs to be multiplied by 2, which is 2/4.
They're all done essentially the same, so let's move on.
III. Pan
Okay, Pan is probably the biggest reason why this guide was made. You have no idea how sickening it is to go to a website and see on the reasons why Trunks should be with Pan and NOT Marron is because a child of Pan and Trunks would save the Saiyajin race. Ugh. Not on your life. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
The biggest misconception about Pan is that she's a half-Saiyajin. No. It doesn't happen like that. In the show, Pan is 1/4 Saiyajin. Now, in your twisted AU story or frame of mind, Pan could be 1/2 Saiyajin. But she's not really.
Ways Pan could be half-Saiyajin:
- Videl is half-Saiyajin and Gohan is half-Saiyajin.
- Videl is full human and Gohan is full Saiyajin.
- Videl is full Saiyajin and Gohan is full human.
- Goku/Vegeta/or some other full-blooded Saiyajin is really Pan's father -- NOT GOHAN!
So... Pan's a fourth-Saiyajin. Are we clear on that?
IV. Brood Bitches
Okay, now let's look at direct Saiyajin bloodlines through the only two breeding Saiyajin females, Bura and Pan.
First, I'm going to go over a few of the colors and symbols.
Dead

Alive |
This is Bura's chart. I threw in all of the Saiyajins that I could think of names for, so maybe in your AU fic you wish them back or have them breed in Hell.

This is just the direct breeding. If you inbreed enough, you'll get a larger percentage. However, try as hard as you might, you'll never get a purebred without two 100% Saiyajins.

Inspired and deeply moved by the girls' charts, I decided to do the guys'.

Okay, so there aren't as many females in Dragonball/Z/GT as there are men. I was going to have a chart with Nappa and Raditz and Bardock and all the dead Saiyajin guys on it, but it gets redundant rather fast. So, I'm giving a list of the dead Saiyajins that (aside from the incest factor) have the same bloodline possibilities as Goku and Vegeta.
Nappa
Raditz
King Vegeta
Bardock
Toma
Totepo
Panboukin
Turles
Brolli
Any Full-Blooded Saiyajin
That's not so hard! So, just look at Goku or Vegeta's charts and substitute in one of these guys.
VI. Mary-sue Saiyajins.
This is, without a doubt, one of the stupidest ways to revive the Saiyajin race. Ugh. It's right up there with wishing back Vegeta-sei just so a girl (or boy) can have sex with everyone else on the planet. Talk about lame and unreadable, time travel is so much cooler. :)
Anyway, Mary-sue Saiyajins do not count.
What kind of moron would try to revive a race with a Mary-sue, anyway? What can really happen? A female fanfic writer and a hundred of her friends go into heat and have a wild sex orgy on Vegetasei? I think not.
Besides that-- if a child came out of it with Mary-sue genes, the race really would be doomed!
VII. It's the End of the World as We Know It.
So, it's about time to wrap this up, so I say this: The Saiya-jin race is doomed. It was doomed from the moment that Freeza blew up the planet. The race could have lingered a little longer if a few females had survived. Ultimately they would all inbreed or die. Maybe if a hundred female Saiyajins had survived, the race could have lingered centuries longer, assuming that none of them were sterile and they had males to breed to. But the only survivors of Vegetasei were four males and zero females. The race never even had a chance.
So, stopping short of cloning, the mighty Saiyajin race's blood would either dilute into oblivion where no one would have ever heard of a Saiyajin and the heritage is so small it's not worth mentioning, or the remaining Saiyajins would refuse to breed after so many generations and the line would simply die out. It's not a happy scenario either way.
In short, I just want to prove that Trunks and Pan getting together is NOT going to save the Saiyajin race from dying out any faster than Trunks and Marron. It's a foolish, juvenile reason. With only two breeding part-blooded females, and two full-blooded males, you get into incest really fast or you breed outside your race.
VIII. Thanks
A special thanks goes out to my sister, who helps me bitch at people's poor attempts at genetics.
Another hearty thank you goes out to all the T/P fans who inspired me to write this as they proclaim that Pan is some sort of super-fertile brood bitch that is going to populate the world with Saiyajin dilutes. You people are a thousand in a million.
I'd also like to thank my math teachers over the years who have taught me that 1/2 and 1/4 are not the same thing.
On that note, I'd like to thank a few of my science teachers, and my sister, for teaching me that (1/2 + 1/2 ) does not always equal a whole.
And mostly, thank you -- the reader -- for mulling through this.
If you have any other people that I should really add, please e-mail me at pro_pan@hotmail.com and tell me who I'm really missing. Comments and criticisms are always welcome there, too.
